Seasonal Urban Forestry Worker

SEASONAL URBAN FORESTRY WORKER

HIRING RANGE: $17.50 PER HOUR

About the Position:
Working in our Urban Forestry program pairs you with our team of Certified Arborists, where you learn about proper tree care in an urban setting. Duties and tasks will focus heavily on aiding in pruning and removal operations, planting of new trees, and plant health care treatments. This is a very fast-paced position within our department, providing a critical service to protect and enhance one of our most valuable natural resources.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in ground support for pruning and removing trees, plant new trees, and provide plant health care treatments.
  • Operation of wood chippers, stump grinders, and other motorized equipment.
  • Raking, dragging, and lifting tree debris within loud and dusty environments.
  • Mixing, handling, and application of pesticide and herbicide chemical products.
  • Maintaining organized and detailed records.
  • Assistance with the greater needs of Parks and Recreation, as needed.

This position is a safety-sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.

What We're Looking For:

  • Must be at least 18 years or older.
  • Applicants must be able to successfully pass a drug screen, background check, and, if required for the specific position, a physical examination.
  • Ability to maintain a great work ethic while working outside all day.
  • Ambition and a desire to learn.
  • Passion for outdoor recreation.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills.
  • Proclivity for processes and procedures.
  • Experience with yard maintenance tools and equipment is great, but we will train.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work early mornings.
  • Applicants should be able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
