Water Resources Intern
French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking an Intern for our Water Resources Department in Wall, NJ.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, SWMM)
- Support the development of stormwater management plans, floodplain studies, and drainage designs
- Prepare design drawings, figures, and project documentation
- Conduct research on local, state, and federal water resources regulations and design standards
- Assist in site investigations, field data collection, and survey support as needed
- Collaborate with engineers and multi-disciplinary project teams on water resources projects
- Perform data analysis, tabulations, and quality control checks on engineering calculations
- Attend project meetings and contribute to team discussions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with an interest in water resources
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or hydraulic modeling software a plus
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to participate in fieldwork under various site conditions
