Lead Lifeguard

OVERVIEW:  The job is responsible for: Boca West Country Club is seeking a responsible and experienced Lead Lifeguard to oversee our aquatic safety team and ensure a safe, enjoyable environment for all members and guests. The Lead Lifeguard will be responsible for supervising lifeguard staff, enforcing safety rules, providing first aid and emergency response when needed, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pool area.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of lifeguard staff
  • Ensure all lifeguards are alert, attentive, and compliant with safety policies
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure safety of all patrons
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including rescue and first aid
  • Conduct routine safety checks of the pool area and equipment
  • Train and mentor new lifeguards
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and safety procedures
  • Provide excellent customer service to members and guests

 

 

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of all lifeguard staff on duty
  • Assign duties and monitor performance to ensure coverage and safety standards are maintained
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to new and existing lifeguards
  • Conduct regular safety drills and ensure all team members adhere to safety policies and procedures
  • Evaluate lifeguard performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Act as a point of contact for emergency situations and escalate issues to management as needed
  • Ensure proper documentation of incidents and safety protocols is maintained

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING: 

  • Minimum Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Prior lifeguarding experience is a plus, particularly in high-traffic, luxury, or resort environments.

 

 

 

 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 

Training and Certification:

  • Valid lifeguard certification (e.g., Red Cross, Ellis & Associates)
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Previous lifeguarding and supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergency situations
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and professional

  • Skills:
    • Strong swimming ability and proficiency in rescue techniques.
    • Familiarity with pool chemical testing and basic maintenance tasks.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks in an outdoor pool environment, including lifting, pulling, and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing for extended periods in various weather conditions; and moving quickly in emergencies.

The role requires vigilance, physical stamina, and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a lively, upscale recreational setting.
