Maintenance staff

Located in the beautiful Adirondacks, Point O’Pines Camp for Girls is seeking a dedicated Maintenance team member to help keep camp safe, clean, and running smoothly throughout the summer. Working closely with the Facility Manager, this hands-on role supports daily repairs, grounds upkeep, and facility maintenance during our busy camp season.


Key Responsibilities:

● Perform daily maintenance tasks to keep buildings, grounds, and equipment in top condition. This includes minor repairs to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and other camp infrastructure.
● Maintain outdoor spaces, including mowing, landscaping, tree trimming, and ensuring pathways and recreational areas are safe and well-kept.
● Assist in setting up cabins, dining halls, bathrooms, and recreational spaces to ensure they are ready for camper use before the start of camp.
● Ensure the cleanliness of common areas, including bathrooms, showers, dining facilities, and recreational spaces, during the camp season.
● Ensure the camp meets all health, safety, and fire code regulations. Conduct regular checks of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and other safety equipment.
● Provide support for camp events and activities, ensuring that equipment and facilities are ready and functional for special programs. Be available for urgent repair needs, responding to maintenance issues swiftly to minimize disruptions to camp activities.
● Track and maintain the inventory of tools and supplies needed for camp maintenance, ordering replacement items as necessary.

Physical Requirements:

● Ability to remain active for extended periods, including walking, running, standing, and participating in physical activities.
● Stamina and agility to respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate attention.
● Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain.
● Ability to maintain a high level of energy and focus during long and active days.

Qualifications:

● Experience in general maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry) preferred.
● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
● Ability to follow safety procedures and work in a fast-paced environment.
● Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
