About the Role

Sign-On Bonus Eligibility:

  • Up to $10,000 for RNs with less than 1 year of experience
  • Up to $20,000 for experienced RNs
  • Bonus amounts vary by unit, shift, and approved hours

Key Responsibilities

Under general supervision and in accordance with organizational policies and the Michigan Public Health Code, the RN is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care throughout the surgical experience.

Clinical Practice and Patient Care

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
  • Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Administer medications and treatments per approved protocols
  • Monitor patient response to care and document outcomes
  • Maintain patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout care delivery

Operating Room and Scrub RN Duties

  • Prepare case carts and verify required supplies and equipment
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and apply knowledge of procedures and preferences
  • Maintain awareness of sterile technique and equipment use
  • Identify changes in patient condition and take appropriate action
  • Update preference cards and communicate equipment or supply needs
  • Serve as a resource for circulators and surgical team members
  • Participate in rotational after-hours call coverage

Collaboration and Professional Practice

  • Delegate tasks appropriately based on patient acuity and staff skill level
  • Educate patients and families as appropriate
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to a supportive, team-oriented work environment
  • Maintain professional competency through ongoing education

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred (must be obtained within 8 years of hire if not already held)
  • Active Michigan RN license in good standing
  • BLS certification required by completion of core orientation
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to analyze clinical data and prioritize care
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with patient movement
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
