System Engineer Internship
Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)
Term: May 18, 2026- August 14, 2026
Position Summary
Plug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated student to join our team. The student will be responsible for assisting in a wide variety of initiatives and projects in support of your academic studies and interests. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain recordkeeping requirements and documentation controls to ensure compliance with functional safety standards and audit readiness.
Support the development and documentation of safety lifecycle activities in accordance with IEC 61511, including hazard analysis, safety requirement definition, and verification tracking.
Assist engineers with validation, testing, and safety case documentation to ensure design compliance and traceability across functional safety deliverables.
Gain a foundational understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in manufacturing and technology.
Communication and Collaboration
Develop effective communication skills by collaborating with team members and presenting findings to different stakeholders.
Education and Qualification
Pursuing a Bachelor of Science, Master's or PhD degree with majors including chemical mechanical or industrial
Must have reliable transportation to the office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Possess solid hands-on approach to problem-solving
Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
Excellent follow-through
Must be driven and self-motivated
