The City of Kettering’s Public Service Department is currently seeking a Full-Time Project Manager to administer and oversee all capital improvement projects associated with City facilities, parks, and other City-owned properties. The Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, designing, supervising and reviewing the work of contractors engaged in construction work. The Project Manager will also plan such projects, estimate costs, maintain a budget and effectively manage the workflow of the Capital Improvement Plan Program.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Assist with preparation of annual capital improvement budget and participate in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies;
- Utilize CAD design software for the purpose of designing plans for various construction projects;
- Serve as the City’s construction project manager on all CIP projects;
- Provide overall management of various public infrastructure projects;
- Assist Managers and others to ensure that appropriate safety training and equipment is provided to crews;
- May serve as “Safety Coordinator” for the Public Service Department and/or the City;
The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge of modern methods and techniques used in the design, construction and inspection of public infrastructure projects; and the principles and practices of effective supervision. Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical sketches, construction documents, and maps (both paper and digital) and must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and maintain effective relationships with employees, City officials, contractors, and the general public. Considerable supervisory experience and graduation from a four-year, accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Civil/Construction Engineering, or equivalent training and experience in a related field of study. Thorough knowledge and experience with CAD design software is required.
