Project Description:
SnowCap is a charity providing food and clothing to over 14,000 low-income neighbors each month. The pantry provides a variety of services, including food boxes, clothing distribution, and seasonal initiatives like holiday toys and school supplies for families in need. SnowCap emphasizes inclusivity and community support, encouraging volunteers to assist in client intake, food pantry operations, and community outreach projects.

(A)Client Services Worker
(B) Pantry Worker
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities for the Client Services Worker include handling the daily intake and interview process of new clients and working in the pantry, warehouse, clothing area, and garden. The volunteer may also assist with community outreach efforts, such as the Adopt-a-Family initiative, Holiday Toys, or Back-to-School project.
- The Pantry Worker assists with clients, volunteers, mobile food pantry, and pantry/donation intake processes. The volunteer may also assist with community outreach efforts,such as the Adopt-a-Family initiative, Holiday Toys, or Back-to-School project.
Requirements:
For both positions, strong communication, good problem-solving, quick decision-making, and strong people skills are essential as the volunteer will serve people in distress, many of whom are from other cultures. Flexibility and willingness to learn will allow the volunteer to fill in where the workflow demands. Basic computer literacy, good attention to detail, a good driving record, and the ability to stand and walk for much of a shift and lift at least 40 pounds are preferred.
BVS Volunteers receive a $250 stipend per month. Food, housing, and insurance are also provided in addition to the stipend. Volunteer positions are for one year with option for extension.
