IT: Management Information Systems Intern

Schedule: Full Time, 35 hours/week, Monday, June 15 - Friday, August 14, up to five days working onsite

Department Description

The SFMOMA IT/AV Departments are foundational and strategic teams that support SFMOMA mission by providing: 

· Strategic Technology Leadership 

· Technology Governance, Policy, and Innovation 

· Risk Management (Cybersecurity, Physical Security, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity) 

· Tactical and Operational Technology Implementation and Support Services 

· Audio Visual Implementation and Support Services (Events, In-Gallery Interpretation Platforms, Digital Signage, · · Public Engagement) 

· Software Development and Engineering 

The IT/AV Departments support museum colleagues by fostering collaboration, communication, accountability. 

Position Description

As directed by the IT Services Manager, the IT Intern or Extern performs IT projects and assists with delivering quality customer service to SFMOMA employees by providing them with help to resolve technical problems. The IT Intern will be able to provide troubleshooting and problem resolution services to staff regarding a wide variety of hardware and software issues. The IT Intern receives project assignments from the IT Services Manager and uses documented processes and procedures to execute required duties.  The IT Intern’s duties will conform to standard collegiate internship requirements and norms by being employed in any area including, but not limited to, help desk, hardware technician, networking technician, system administration, or computer operation by performing supervised work involving computer use. Superior customer service skills are required. 

Project Plan

Over the 9-week program the IT Intern will:

· Assist with the organization and modernization of the Microsoft Active Directory Enterprise environment 

· Support the creation and deployment of PC images using Intune, SCCM and Group Policy 

· Aid in the deployment of a RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management) platform for overseeing servers, computers and other endpoints on site 

· Assist with the improvement of the JAMF platform for Apple device management 

Educational Objectives

To learn the fundamentals of and receive real world experience with an enterprise IT infrastructure including AD, SCCM, Intune, JAMF, RMM, and SOC response. 

Additional Internship Programming

The Summer 2026 Internship will offer 9-weeks of hands-on experience and mentorship along with weekly presentations and discussions with various departments in the museum, off-site educational visits within the Bay Area community, and access to various tours and events within the museum.

Requirements 

· Applicants must be currently enrolled in school or a recent graduate. The SFMOMA recognizes a graduation date within 6 months of the internship start date as a recent graduate.  

· If you are a current employee of the SFMOMA applying for an internship, you must be a current student or a recent graduate, within 6 months of the internship start date.

$7,000 pre-tax stipend paid out in a one-lump sum after start date

*TAX WITHHOLDING: For certain non-US residents and non-CA residents, any payments that constitute taxable income under U.S. tax law may be subject to up to 30% federal and 7% state tax withholding (or the current applicable rates), and so any payments you receive may be reduced accordingly. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding the tax treatment of your stipend from this internship.

· Two letters of recommendation from either a college professor or current/former employer, in PDF format

· College/university transcript, in PDF format

· Transcripts can be unofficial but must be legible

  · If you are currently enrolled in a master's or PhD program, please provide the transcript for your current program, not your undergraduate transcript
