This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by creating customer-focused solutions that are responsive and agile, supporting a modern infrastructure, tools, architecture, and standards to effectively provide efficient services following service-level agreements. The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) leverages data and technology to create sustainability across CDPH by creating efficient solutions that meet customer expectations and reduce waste, as well as creating innovative solutions, strengthening partnerships and collaborations, and embracing technology.
Under direction of the Information Technology Supervisor (IT Sup) II and/or Information Technology Manager (ITM) I, Chief, Informatics Data Exchange and Applications Section (IDEAS), the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I performs a wide variety of tasks on complex statewide systems and projects including, on-premise and/or in-cloud including, but not limited to, requirements gathering, designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting of business and technical solution. The ITS I serves as a subject matter expert in the maintenance and support of on-premise and/or in-cloud systems; troubleshooting and fixing issues; providing production support and maintenance for mission critical systems, technical system configuration and upgrades; performance tuning; problem resolution; and collaborating with stakeholders and vendors in support of system functionality and enhancements as well as integrated testing of systems. Works with diverse technical and non-technical personnel and management at local, state, and federal levels to provide support on system website, manage certificates and data-exchange protocols.

Experience with:

- Researching, troubleshooting, problem solving, and resolving challenging technical issues
- N-tier system architecture, security, development, and support
- Windows/Linux server and network-based platforms, services, and technologies
- Clustered/High availability multi-node platform support, Failover and Disaster Recovery
- Working development experience in Cloud, API, DevOps, Web services and IIS setup and configuration
