Job Summary
The Technology Director supports all technology operations for the district’s schools and district office. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining reliable, secure, and effective technology systems that support instruction, operations, and communication. The Technology Director works collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and staff while supervising a team of Technology Specialists to ensure high-quality service across the district.
Essential Duties
- Maintain and manage district computers, student devices, printers, and classroom technology
- Manage district network infrastructure, servers, internet access, wireless systems, and telecommunications
- Manage user accounts, access permissions, and security protocols
- Ensure system reliability, performance, backups, and disaster recovery readiness
- Coordinate technology installations, upgrades, and repairs
- Support instructional software, learning platforms, and student information systems
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices and data protection measures
- Manage technology inventory, purchasing, replacements and vendor relationships
- Develop and maintain technology documentation, procedures, and staff training
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal technology policies, student data privacy requirements, and technology-related reporting requirements.
- Assist with E-rate applications and technology-related reporting
- Support technology planning, budgeting, and long-term district goals
Qualifications
Required
- Associates' or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, or related field (i.e. related professional experience will be considered)
- Experience providing technical support in a school or small organization
- Strong working knowledge of computers, devices, and basic networking
- Strong problem solving, communication, customer service and organizational skills
Preferred
- Experience working in a school setting or a similar environment
- Familiarity with Illinois school technology requirements
- Experience supporting student devices (Chromebooks, iPads, etc.)

- Ability to work independently as the district’s primary technology leader
- Willingness to be flexible and hands-on in a small district
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and staff
