Position Description:
One (1) Permanent-Exempt, Part-Time (20 hours/week), School-Term-Only (220 days/fiscal year position).
Exempt employees are considered "at will" and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer.
School-Term-Only (STO) employees are hired for a specific work calendar and may not have an assignment during the school academic breaks.
The typical work schedule for this position is Tuesdays and Thursdays 12pm to 4pm, Wednesdays 10am to 2pm and Fridays 8:30am to 3pm but is subject to change per school semester.
Under supervision of the Community and Public Health Department Chair, the School Aide III-CHW ELL Support Aide will work as part of a team to support the ELL Healthcare Pathways project.
This is a new project that provides a non-credit bridge course for English Language Learners (ELL) to the Community Health Worker program. This position would support outreach to recruit students to the program; respond to requests for program information; assist prospective students with enrollment and registration procedures; provide peer support, tutoring, and mentoring to HLTH 5900 students; participate in team meetings, events, and activities on and off campus; provide referrals to on and off-campus support services; assist with workshops and trainings; and document students served.

Essential Functions
• Adapts curriculum and activities identified as appropriate for student learning needs for the purpose of addressing specific learning requirements that maximize academic performance of students.• Assists with implementation of a variety of instructional activities (e.g. tutoring, homework, campus resources, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring all necessary materials and information are available for use in supporting students in their program.• Attends meetings and in-service presentations (e.g. workshops, departmental and program meetings, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and conveying information relative to job functions.• Maintains instructional areas (e.g. classroom equipment, work areas, labs, instructional materials, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of required materials within a positive learning environment.• Maintains various records and documentation (e.g. student progress, referrals, assessments, services provided, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring documentation is consistent with established policies and providing accurate, documentation of student progress.• Monitors student performance for the purpose of meeting the needs of the students and making necessary adjustments in lesson plans and assignments.• Orders required materials and equipment required for instructional activities for the purpose of ensuring their availability as needed.• Provides support for the implementation of instructional programs and lesson plane, under supervision of assigned faculty member and course instructor for the purpose of ensuring student learning outcomes are achieved.• Responds to a wide variety of inquiries from internal and external parties (e.g., faculty and instructional staff, students, other departments, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties and/or providing direction.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of two (2) years of college (60 semester units) PLUS paid experience working with young people or college students.
Note: College Work Study and Student Lab Aide experience with the District will be considered/ applied as qualifying experience per an agreement made between the District and SEIU. This agreement will allow District students to take advantage of employment opportunities.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. At least one (1) year experience working as a Community Health Worker or successful completion of the CHW Certificate program.
2. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with people from diverse backgrounds.
3. Ability to work well in a team setting.
4. Demonstrated organizational skills, focus and self-starting skills.
5. Demonstrated computer skills including word processing programs experience (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and web-based programs (Canvas, Google Docs, etc).
6. Proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, or another language used by many CCSF English language learners.
Benefits:
1.-New employees hired on or after October 1, 2013 will contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF).
2.-Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full-year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days off during spring break. Eligible school-term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the designated days between Christmas and New Year’s Day shall be granted three (3) paid days off to be scheduled by mutual agreement between the employee and supervisor. Eligible school-term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the days designated as Spring Break will not be paid for these days off.
