Position Summary:
Chesapeake Controls is seeking hard-working, bright, and energetic undergraduate and graduate students to join our 2025 Summer Internship Program. This is a temporary position involving various duties that permit exposure to the student’s field of study and/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the student’s education and meaningful preparation for future professional employment.
Overview of Internship Program:
The summer program offers paid internship opportunities at our home office in Chesapeake, Virginia. The internship program is a combination of mentoring, learning activities, and field work designed to give broad exposure to the inner workings of HVAC and Building Automation. This is a paid internship from May to August 2025. Interns need to be available to work up to 40 hours per week.
Electrical Internships

Successful candidates are afforded the opportunity to work with an experienced electrical team on commercial low-voltage rough-in construction projects installing either conduit, wire or mounting devices.
Key Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Under immediate direction and under work guidance of field staff, assists and supports division(s) in electrical construction projects
- Pull and terminate wires to controllers, components, and devices using wiring diagrams, and installation instructions
- Install electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagram; experience with push up ceilings, hard lid ceilings, fire demising walls, floor to floor.
- Understand, and work from floor plans, blueprints, specifications, and schematics
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a program leading to an Electrical, Mechanical or Construction degree or certification
- Experience using basic hand tools
- Ability to understand construction drawings
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to climb on a ladder
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Comfortable working around a construction environment
