83 Press, the book division of Hoffman Media, is seeking a detail-oriented, goal-driven, and creative Editorial Intern to support our publishing team. This role is ideal for students who want real life experience in editing, project management, content development, and the publishing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist editors by pulling and organizing recipes for multiple cookbook projects.
- Research stories, anecdotes, quotes, and supplemental content for narrative features in various manuscripts.
- Support creation of editorial components such as tables of contents, recipe indexes, headnotes, and captions.
- Perform light, supervised editing, proofreading, and fact-checking.
- Provide on-set support during photo shoots.
- Assist editors with special projects across the publishing list.
- Attend weekly team and production meetings.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Student or recent graduate
- English, Journalism, or Communications major (or similar)
- Strong writing, editing, organizing, and research skills
- Interest in pursuing a career in publishing
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Adobe Acrobat and InDesign familiarity is a plus but not required.

Position Details & Requirements
Employment Type: Paid, part-time, up to 20 hours a week
- Location: This is a hybrid position based primarily in our Birmingham, AL office.
- Flexibility: This role requires availability for our weekly Tuesday team meetings along with regular attendance of photoshoots. However, we will try to be flexible based on class schedules.
