We’re growing fast, and looking for a highly motivated, proactive, and driven person to join our Field Sales Team as a Sales Engineer who would claim a territory in the NY Metro/Long Island area as their PHI playground.
How we help you make the most of your skills
We’ll send you to Parker Training and teach you about our business – the nuances of distributorship, fluid power (hydraulics, pneumatics and motion control) and the markets in that territory (infrastructure, transportation, construction and industrial machinery).
You’ll tap into your natural problem-solving abilities by cultivating new and existing customer relationships by understanding their manufacturing pain points and delivering fluid power solutions to boost their productivity, lower costs and reduce unplanned downtime.
In addition, your Supervisor will help refine your sales skills and provide technical guidance to close deals.
What you need to bring to the table
If sitting at your desk producing CAD drawings all day sounds like your dream job, then this isn’t the role for you. You’ll get in front of customers and apply your critical thinking prowess to offer solutions that remedy real-world conundrums. This means that you’ll spend the majority of your time cultivating new business with target accounts and the rest of your time searching for new accounts that could potentially become new targets.

What does a Sales Engineer do for PHI?
Ultimately, the right candidate will help PHI grow by finding new business opportunities. Here are the responsibilities PHI expects a Sales Engineer to focus on to help us grow:
- Manage all Sales Activities in your Target and Territory Accounts
- Support and respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs SOW and other required documents by customers or prospects
- Act as the customer liaison when interacting with different PHI departments (Inside Sales, Fabrication, Engineering, Accounting, Field Sales, Warehouse, Stores and Executives)
- Maintain the post-sales process by acquiring a customer PO, documentation, approval and/or contract review process
- Provide feedback to the appropriate PHI stakeholders on market activity, competition and other relevant information
- Execute client retention with continued followup
What’s required for this Job Opportunity
We believe that the right candidate will possess some of these requirements in order to truly succeed in this position:
- B.S. in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Automation, Electrical)
- A reliable vehicle
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
In the first 6 months to a year, this person will participate in Parker Trainings and an on-site training program to learn PHI’s business processes. At the same time, this person will also need to study for the appropriate industry certifications and obtain those certifications by the end of their first 6 months.
