Records Technician

This position performs technical duties in the maintenance of department records.

Examples of Duties

• Perform quality control in order to improve workplace productivity, efficiency and performance.
• Interpret the needs of citizens in order to best address the situation at hand and deliver exceptional customer service.
• Enters traffic accidents, citations, criminal reports, parking tickets, animal impounds, vehicle impounds, court dispositions and other data into an electronic records management system.
• Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; provides notary services; conducts background and record checks; receives open records requests.
• Enters calls into the computer aided dispatch system.
• Types dictation for officers.
• Tracks and records vehicle impound information.
• Assists offenders with offender registration; enters offender registration into a records management system.
• Routes, processes, scans, copies and redacts a variety of reports for public entities, other Law Enforcement Agencies, Pre-Trial Services, Probation and Parole.
• Processes taxi, gaming, liquor, and door-to-door permits.
• Files documents to include but not be limited to, protection orders, orders prohibiting contact, trespass notices and active warrants.
• Process incoming mail and disseminate to the appropriate destination, prepare and manage outgoing mail.
• Receives, processes and receipts fees and other payments for bond, animal impounds, animal licenses, vehicle impounds, taxi permits, gaming permits, accident and criminal reports.
• Confirms and faxes warrants.
• Prepares bank deposits.
• Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
