About the Internship
The EWR Terminal B summer internship offers hands-on exposure to the core functions that keep an international terminal operating safely and efficiently, while providing a world-class customer experience. The summer intern will support daily terminal operations, operational planning, data analytics, and customer experience initiatives while gaining insight into emergency preparedness and real-time decision-making in a 24/7 environment. This role provides a unique opportunity to work alongside airport and stakeholder leadership in a collaborative team environment. The summer intern will contribute to meaningful projects and develop a strong foundation in aviation and public-sector operations. It is ideally suited for students pursuing careers in aviation management, transportation, public-sector operations, or business administration.
Responsibilities
- Support daily terminal operations, including passenger flow monitoring, customer experience projects, and coordination with airlines, federal partners, and internal Port Authority units.
- Assist with predictive passenger and flight volume planning, along with development and implementation of operational policies, procedures, SOPs, and emergency/customer experience plans.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, technology pilots, and digital transformation projects aimed at improving the terminal’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) scores and overall terminal efficiency.
- Lead operational and customer experience projects that have tangible positive impacts on the terminal’s passengers and stakeholders.
- Assist with budgeting activities, monthly reporting, accrual tracking, and financial documentation.
- Maintain operational records and provide support to management as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
- Major in Aviation Operations, Transportation Operations, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Must be able to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge (fingerprint-based CHRC required).
Desired Qualifications

- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to work with data reports.
- Interest in airport operations, customer service, emergency response, or transportation systems.
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
