Finance & Accounting Student Worker
As an integral member of the Finance group in the Technology Development & Industry Engagement (TDIE) Department, the Student Worker with a background in Finance, Accounting, and/or Data Analysis, works collaboratively with the TDIE’s Finance Director to support the growing billing and revenue needs of TDIE within St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Job Responsibilities
The position’s work, under direction of the Director, Financial Planning, focuses primarily on:
- Processing outgoing payments for external patent firms, consultants and vendors
- Preparing and issuing revenue invoices
- Managing royalty and reimbursement revenue stream billing
- Maintaining ongoing revenue billing cycles.
- Verifying billing data
- Performing basic reconciliations
- Assist with supplier setups and purchase orders
- Coordinating outgoing payments to vendors
- Researching, understanding, recreating Finance workflows and processes
- Depending on demonstrated skill, other responsibilities may be assigned.
A successful student for this role will be able to:
- Proactively engage and learn new processes
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills
- Critically evaluate based on a set of criteria
- Work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Apply basic knowledge of accounting concepts and practices
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Job Details
- Remote arrangements
- Hourly paid position
- Flexible hours as amenable to school schedule
- One scheduled weekly meeting with supervisor, timing of which can be negotiated
- No more than 20 hours/week
Job Minimum Requirements
- Must be student throughout period of employment
- Must at least be a 3rd year undergrad student
Preferred Education and Background
- Undergrad or Graduate student with Finance or Accounting emphasis
- Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Experience in Workday
- Experience in Wellspring Sophia or Evolve
- Proficient in Excel including Pivot Tables, Charts, Graphs, etc.
