Enforcement Seasonal Worker

Location:  Various areas around the state of North Dakota - Free Housing is available at all locations. Security deposit required. No pets allowed at any locations.

Salary:  Up to $18.75 per hour – based on college credits and experience


Job Duration:  Positions are generally 40 hours per week and 3 months in duration. 4 positions will be available for the 2026 season.

Summary of Work

A District Game Warden enforces laws related to hunting, fishing and boating. Their duties include patrolling wildlife areas, investigating complaints and protecting wildlife.

District Game Wardens are law enforcement officials who specifically deal with fishing, hunting and boating laws. Their responsibility is to protect and manage wildlife in specific areas against activities like poaching through investigations, collecting evidence and citing offenders. This outdoor job involves patrolling lakes, wetlands, beaches, deserts, forests and backcountry areas.

The enforcement seasonal worker will assist District Game Wardens with various day to day activities. Activities include, but are not limited to, boat safety inspections, calls for service from the public, equipment maintenance, educational programs, and aquatic nuisance species inspections.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be accepted to, enrolled at, or a recent graduate of a college or university. Students should be in good academic standing. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and possess a valid driver’s license. Must be at least 18 years old on their start date.

Basic skills/knowledge required for these positions include the ability to ability to work alone with limited supervision, learn to operate equipment with minimal training, ability to operate boats and OHVs, and the ability to represent the department in a professional manner. Individuals must be capable of working long, irregular hours outdoors, weekends, holidays and under adverse weather conditions.

Requires satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given for:

  • Applicants majoring in a wildlife, range management, biology, natural resource management or criminal justice program or closely related science field.
  • Ability to operate equipment including boats and ATV’s with minimal training
  • Trailer Towing Experience
  • ND ATV/OHV Certificate
  • Hunting, fishing, trapping and/or boating experience
