Dove Banding Technician
Dove banding technician duties involve determining potential mourning dove banding sites, securing permission to band doves on private and public property, maintenance of equipment/bait, running trap sites morning and evening, banding doves, entering dove banding data, maintaining detailed banding records, and using conibear and/or live traps to eliminate potential predation problems. Successful applicants will also be expected to write a summary report of banding activities at the end of the banding season.
Successful applicants will possess a strong ability to work independently from supervision and work well as part of a small team. Selected applicants must have a strong work ethic to meet goals, timelines, problem solve, and collect and maintain large amounts of data. A work vehicle will be provided to conduct assigned responsibilities.

Locations: Hiring for multiple locations in North Dakota
Free Housing is available at all locations. Security deposit required. No pets allowed at any locations.
Job Duration: The duration at all four locations will be from approximately mid-June to mid-August. Start and end dates may be flexible depending on summer schedule of applicants. Work schedule may vary depending on time of year and is limited to 40 hours per week. A portion of the work period will also include evening and weekend hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled at or a recent graduate of a college or university majoring in a wildlife, natural resources, or other closely related program.
Students should be in good academic standing with knowledge of basic fish and wildlife management principles and practices.
Applicants must have basic computer skills and be able to use Microsoft Excel for data entry.
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to lift 50 lbs.
Applicants selected for these positions must also be able to work independently with limited supervision while representing the department in a professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience banding birds is desired, but not necessary.
