Position Summary
This position plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Office of Advancement & Alumni Engagement by strengthening connections with Upper Iowa University alumni and donors while supporting the department’s fundraising and engagement objectives. Core responsibilities include designing digital and print marketing materials in collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communications, developing social media content, assisting with event planning and follow-up, creating compelling annual giving appeals, and contributing to personalized stewardship efforts such as donor impact stories and testimonials. The ideal candidate is ambitious, highly organized, and creatively driven, with a collaborative mindset, a can-do attitude, and a passion for learning and professional growth. This hybrid role offers flexibility, with the expectation to work remotely and report to the office one day per week. In addition, the position requires attendance at in-person meetings and events as directed.
Position Responsibilities
- Graphic design of digital and print promotions in collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communications tailored to targeted alumni audiences
- Write and schedule engaging content across alumni-focused social media platforms to enhance visibility and connection
- Support the planning, execution, and follow-up of all alumni events
- Provide comprehensive communications support for the Honors & Awards Scholarship Program, including messaging, student and donor outreach, and recipient coordination
- Apply creative writing and design skills to craft compelling messaging for annual giving campaigns, Bridge Magazine, and other communication pieces
- Contribute to donor stewardship efforts through ThankView e-mails, personalized correspondence, developing donor impact stories and testimonial sharing
- Collaboration with Student Advancement Interns, ExcEL Scholars, and the Student Philanthropy Council on engagement and fundraising initiatives
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date constituent records in Raiser’s Edge by entering detailed notes and engagement tracking
- Assist Advancement staff with additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, Graphic Design, Marketing, or other related field
- Skilled in crafting clear, compelling, and creative content; confident public speaking skills; passion for creative thinking and idea-sharing
- Proficient in utilizing Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, with an openness to learning and leveraging new and evolving social media platforms
- Proficiency with graphic design programs such as Adobe InDesign or Canva
- Ability to work independently, while also thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
