Mental Health Therapist or Counselor

Seeking a full-time organized, detailed oriented, pragmatic, and collaborative Counselor to join the school health team based in our Lake City and Manton Wellness Centers in Missaukee County.

Duties to include: 

  • Working independently and with minimal supervision, provides counseling/therapy services in school-based Adolescent Health Center, assisting adolescents in defining their social, emotional, and environmental needs; and enabling adolescents to recognize and utilize internal and external resources to address issues and problems and resolve needs. 
  • Responsible for delivery of care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of services. 
  • Collaborates and consults with multidisciplinary team to achieve desirable outcomes for adolescents, their families and school community. 
  • Position eligible for Tuition Loan Reimbursement. Both the Lake City and Manton Wellness Centers are National Health Service Corp loan reimbursement sites.
  • Pay will be based on licensure, experience, and qualifications. Limited License starting wage is $28.04/hr. Fully Licensed starting wage is $31.04.
  • This position is Full-Time (1.0 FTE) 5 days per week.  The hours/days can be reduced during 10 weeks of summer when school is not in session.  Three days of each week will be spent working at the Lake City Wellness Center inside Lake City Middle School.  Two days will be spent working at the Manton Wellness Center in the Manton Middle School.  

Specific qualifications and educational requirements:

  • Master’s graduate of an accredited school of social work, counseling, or related program.
  • Licensed Master of Social Work or Licensed Professional Counselor by State of Michigan. Will consider limited license (supervision is included for limited license social workers and counselors).
  • Three years experience providing child/adolescent/family counseling or social work preferred. 
  • Communication skills necessary to interact appropriately with children/parents/guardians, co-workers, school staff, and the public.
