Archives & Exhibits Intern

ARCHIVES & EXHIBITS INTERN

The National Comedy Center is currently seeking interns for its 2026 internship program. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience at an award-winning non-profit cultural institution and national destination. The state-of-the-art National Comedy Center was recently named the “Best New Museum” in the country by USA Today and one of the “World’s Greatest Places” by TIME magazine. 

The Archives and Research Intern will assist in processing archival collections, developing and installing new exhibits, and supporting ongoing research initiatives. 

This internship will be on-site in Jamestown, NY, for the Summer 2026 season with the potential for extension beyond the summer. Remote opportunities may be available - please indicate within your cover letter if you are unable to be in Jamestown.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the conservation and preservation of paper, photography, costumes, and other artifacts.
  • Contribute to the design, installation, and maintenance of the National Comedy Center and Lucy Desi Museum exhibitions.
  • Support Archives & Exhibitions staff in producing special events during the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. 
  • Perform other duties as appropriate and necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be an undergraduate or a Masters degree student pursuing a career in museum studies, archives, history, or a related field. 
  • Advanced knowledge of archival handling and processing techniques is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Ability to commit to 15-20 hours per week; hours are flexible.
  • All interns must complete at least 4 hours per week on the museum floor to learn the attraction operations, interact with visitors, and increase comedy knowledge. 
  • Hours may increase to full-time during the week before and the week of the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival in August; schedules can be arranged with a supervisor. 
  • Interns will use their personal laptops during the internship; alternate arrangements can be discussed upon acceptance.
