Machining Operations Intern

The Operations division of Draper is looking to fill a student Co-Op position within the Machining Operations group. Draper’s machine shop specializes in high mix low volume work in areas such as Defense, Space, Microelectronics, and Biomedical. Successful candidates are self-starters and team-players with a desire to learn new things and advance technology while working with our results-oriented teams.
As a student, you will participate in all aspects of the production process of machined hardware. You will play an important role in ensuring AS9100D requirements, and you will have the opportunity to work with machinists, engineering staff and external vendors.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Create & maintain production jobs in Epicor ERP & FactoryLogix MES systems.
  • Communicate with customers.
  • Work with external vendors on out-sourcing needs.
  • Develop documentation for both ERP & MES Systems.
  • Manage materials and stockroom quantities with real time accuracy.
  • Work diligently in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Adhere to all shop safety rules.

Program Requirements

  • Enrollment in an accredited full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program required.
  • There is flexibility regarding hours and program duration based on applicant’s school schedule and availability.

Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and very strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent work ethic with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust to rapidly changing priorities, tight deadlines, and unique program requirements.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Machine Shop processes and equipment is a plus.

Additional Job Description:

Co-op students must be US citizens and able to work full-time for a 6-month period.
