Student Intern #25-04
The United States Probation & Pretrial Services Office for the Western District of Michigan is currently seeking qualified applicants for our Student Internship Program. This position will provide administrative, technical, and clerical support to staff in a wide range of areas, including assisting probation officers with conducting investigations, compiling criminal histories, and coordinating information with collateral agencies. This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop professional skills while gaining practical, hands-on experience and exposure to the federal government. Our office currently employs approximately 50 employees and is headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, with branch offices in Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Marquette, MI.
The 2026-2027 Student Internship Program commences in June 2026 and concludes by the end of June 2027. Internship availability is dependent on budget. The duration of an internship will vary and may range from a minimum of six months to a maximum of one year time frame, with preferred availability of two academic semesters. All internships are temporary, part-time, intermittent positions (pay is based upon actual hours worked). Internship schedules and work hours will be based on the needs of the office and the selected applicant’s availability, generally between 12-32 hours per week. This position is not eligible for employee benefit and leave programs.
