Position Summary: The Supervisor of Data and Research is a visionary leader who drives the effective use of instructional data to enhance teaching, learning, and organizational decision-making across the Troy School District.
This position combines technical expertise with strong leadership and collaboration skills to create a culture where data informs action, supports equity, and inspires innovation.
The supervisor will lead districtwide efforts to transform complex data into meaningful insights that guide instructional improvement, strengthen student outcomes, and advance the district’s strategic goals.
Qualifications
•Master’s Degree in Data Science, Educational Research, Statistics, Computer Science, or Educational Leadership (Doctorate preferred).
•Minimum of five (5) years of experience in educational data analysis, research, or school improvement.
•Minimum of two (2) years in a leadership or supervisory role.
•Demonstrated success using data to inform instructional and strategic decisions.
•Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and statistical languages
•Knowledge of student information systems (PowerSchool, Synergy) and state reporting (CEPI, MiDataHub). Knowledge of REP reporting preferred.
•Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
•Commitment to ethical, equitable, and student-centered data practices.
Responsibilities:
•Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive district data strategy aligned to instructional priorities under the direction of the Director of Teaching & Learning.
•Oversee district data systems such as Illuminate, ensuring accuracy, privacy, and interoperability.
•Design and deliver professional learning to build data literacy and instructional action among staff and school leaders.
•Disseminate relevant and rigorous research throughout all levels of the organization.
•Develop user-friendly external and internal data dashboards and reports that make data accessible and actionable.
•Utilize advanced analytics and visualization tools to identify trends and support instruction.
•Foster collaboration across departments, cultivating a culture of inquiry, transparency, and continuous school improvement.
•Leverage AI tools to maximize efficiency for data reporting.
