Engineer I (Professional Engineer Development Program)

The Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) seeks an entry level – Engineer I to kick start their career, while participating in our Professional Engineer Development Program.

 Employees in these positions will be working at various work sites, dependent on business area assigned. Work locations could include, Noman Cole Wastewater Treatment Plant, Lorton; Government Center Parkway, and Freds Oak, Burke. 

Selected candidates will learn about and rotate through three of our DPWES Business areas during their first year of employment. These business areas include Capital Facilities, Stormwater, Solid Waste and Wastewater. The PEDP professional will receive assignments from and be supervised by a Professional Engineer from the respective Business Areas. Upon successful completion of the first year, Engineer I’s are promoted to an Engineer II position within DPWES.
