Interstate Connecting Components (ICC) is an AS9100D‑certified distributor of mil‑spec connectors, fiber‑optic components, backshells, and accessories—supporting defense contractors and OEMs in aerospace, shipbuilding, avionics, missiles, and C4ISR industries. ICC offers rapid value‑added assembly and expert engineering support to ensure mission‑critical interconnect solutions. 

 

Position Summary

 

Objectives and Goals:

1. Industry Understanding:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the military aerospace sector and the role of electronic interconnect products.
  • Attend team meetings and industry-specific trainings across Sales, Product Management, and Technical Applications.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the military aerospace sector and the role of electronic interconnect products.

2. Customer Engagement:

  • Assist in managing customer inquiries and provide support in resolving issues.
  • Shadow senior team members in customer meetings or calls to understand customer relations and sales tactics.
  • Support our Customer Care Coordinator with RMA processing. 

3. Market Research:

  • Undertake research on customer market trends within the military, aerospace, and naval sectors, leveraging pivot tables and AI tools to analyze and interpret provided sales data effectively.
  • Prepare a report summarizing findings and suggesting potential sales strategies.

5. Sales Support:

  • Learn about the company's product offerings, value proposition, and pricing strategies.
  • Participate in sales strategy “war room” sessions and provide input based on research.
  • Assist the Customer Service Team in  CRM data entry.
  • Assist the Business Development Team in “qualifying” new customers and setting them up 

6. Project Management:

  • Lead a small project that contributes to the department's goals, such as improving customer service processes or enhancing sales tactics.

7. Professional Development:

  • Develop business communication skills through interaction with internal teams and customers.
  • Receive mentorship from an assigned supervisor for career guidance and skill development.

8. Flexibility to Candidate’s Skills:

  • ICC is willing to tailor specific tasks or projects to align with the intern’s unique skills or academic focus.

 9. Final Presentation:

  • At the end of the internship, prepare and present a summary of accomplishments and learnings to the department or senior management.

Desired Skills and Qualifications (Flexible to Candidate’s Profile):

  • Currently enrolled in a 1st or 2nd year of a Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of sales and customer service principles.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Strong Excel Skills including lookups, pivot tables and charts
  • Interest in Sales and Customer Engagement a plus
  • Interest in the aerospace or defense electronics industry is a plus.

Evaluation:

  • Performance will be evaluated based on the successful completion of set objectives, quality of work, ability to learn and adapt, and overall contribution to the team.
