Seasonal Wildlife Associate May 2026

Seasonal Wildlife Associate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and administrative support at the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center.

What You'll Do

  • Answer visitor inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email, providing accurate and detailed information about the center's offerings, exhibits, and services. Answer the wildlife hotline and provide advice regarding sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, wildlife laws, nuisance wildlife and natural history questions.
  • Perform general clerical duties, such as data entry, filing, record keeping, and preparing mailings.
  • Process animal admissions including applying admission guidelines, clinical animal checks, and medical chart creation and entry.
  • Triage a wide variety of native wildlife, including safe wildlife handling and temporary restraint and set up.
  • Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits that supports a clean, organized and hazard-free camp environment.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and support a positive, team-oriented workplace.

What You'll Need

  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
  • Experience with animal handling preferred.
  • Natural history knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Social and situational perceptiveness.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Coordination when dealing and working with others.
  • Dealing effectively with the public.

Schedule & Pay

  • Schedule will be either Sun/Mon/Tues/Thurs 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Tues/Thurs/Fri/Sat 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Expected start date is from May 2026 through September 2026
  • $16.00 per hour

Work Setting

  • Based at DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center at Willowbrook Forest Preserve
  • This position will require working primarily indoors and performing a wide variety of animal handling.
