Medical Technologist

FHN

Job Summary: Performs medical laboratory tests and procedures, and analyzes in all functional sections or designated specialty area of the lab to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Reports test results, evaluates quality, and troubleshoots systems and equipment. Maintains records of performance, quality control, remedial action plans, quality improvements and procedure manuals.

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or in a life/biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) from a program that is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
 

Licensure/Certification/Registration:  Registration or Certification (or eligible) from one of the following National credentialing agencies: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS formally HEW), American Medical Technologists (AMT).
