OLED Manufacturing Technician I

 

Job Summary:

 The OLED Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the set-up, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of machines and equipment used in manufacturing, R&D, pilot, test and production materials at both intermediate and finished good levels.  The technician monitors quality, tests devices, collects and analyzes pertinent data, trains operators and fellow technicians and reports/responds to manufacturing variances (e.g. needed adjustments, breakdowns, etc.)  with appropriate actions to ensure customer satisfaction.

 

Essential Functions:

The OLED Manufacturing Technician is responsible for various aspects of Manufacturing including but not limited to: Operation of equipment, testing of materials and product, establishing new/modified equipment run parameters, assisting with equipment installation/validation as well as continuous improvement of processes and procedures. 

 

Advancement within levels will not take place unless the incumbent meets the minimum requirements, and demonstrates the skills and knowledge listed. There may be exceptions based on management discretion where additional skills or experience that are not listed here are documented and then taken into consideration.  The requirements for each level are outlined below:

 

OLED Manufacturing Technician I:

  1. The set up and operation of pre-deposition equipment / functions.  This includes equipment used to clean, measure, and prepare materials.
  2. Ability to prepare materials, operate and perform standard maintenance/troubleshooting on a minimum of any two (2) R&D coaters, including cleaning/moving/loading substrates.
  3. Set up and completion at least one (1) post deposition (backend) process.
  4. Ability to complete at least one (1) entire type of standard testing.
  5. Collecting all required data as well as the analysis and reporting on same for the operations trained in.

6.    Ability to propose/design fixtures.

7.    A general understanding and application of continuous improvement methodology

        (e.g. 5S, Visual Factory, waste reduction, root cause analysis, Kaizen events)

8.    Other duties as assigned by management.

 

 

OLED Manufacturing Technician II:

  1. Ability to prepare materials, operate and perform standard maintenance/troubleshooting on a minimum of any two (2) R&D coaters plus one (1) production coater, including cleaning/moving/loading substrates.
  2. Ability to set up and complete at least two (2) post deposition (backend) processes with one (1) of the processes being Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD).
  3. Ability to complete at least two (2) entire types of standard testing.
  4. Performs routine maintenance.
  5. Trains others on equipment and processes (Note: does not confirm training effectiveness)
  6. Writes procedures and follows document control requirements with new/changed procedures.

 

OLED Manufacturing Technician III:

  1. Ability to prepare materials, operate, performance standard maintenance/troubleshooting and train on a minimum of three (3) coaters, one of which must be a Production Coater.
  2. Ability to set up, complete, and train on at least three (3) current post deposition (backend) processes.
  3. Ability to set up, run, perform routine maintenance on manufacturing and test equipment.
  4. Ability to propose/design and assist with fabricating/fabricate fixtures.
  5. Trains others on equipment and processes and confirms training effectiveness for training completed by others.

 

Education & Experience:

High School diploma with and/or strong interest in chemical process and mechanical engineering required. 

OLED Manufacturing Technician I: 

  • Experience with OLEDs or semiconductors preferred
  • 2-year degree preferred

 

OLED Manufacturing Technician II: 

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant manufacturing experience required
  • Experience with OLEDs or semiconductors preferred
  • 2-year degree preferred

 

OLED Manufacturing Technician III: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with OLEDs or semiconductors preferred
  • 4-year degree preferred
  • Will consider additional relevant experience in place of 5-years manufacturing experience

 

Competencies & Skills:

  • Must have a proven Quality and Safety focus.  Experience with QMS, Total Quality Management (TQM), ISO or IATF certification, strongly preferred. 
  • Must have a client service focused attitude. 
  • Must have excellent problem solving/critical thinking skills, be resourceful, and have an independent drive for results. 
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and possess the ability to multitask and prioritize work. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.   Competent with documenting activities and procedures. Experience with a formal documentation controls system preferred. 
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaborative environments, during periods of rapid change and growth is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) needed. 

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

This is an on-site position. Typical Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM-3:30 PM. Hours may vary due to fab/production and research & development schedules or other needs. 

 

This position operates within both a production and professional office environment. An individual working in this role routinely is required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, bend, and use various machines and tools. Required to wear and use proper PPE gear if applicable. Specific vision abilities are required for parts of the job to include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. The position will also sit at a desk and use office equipment such as a computer, phone, photocopiers/scanners, and other peripherals. This position may require light lifting in order to move boxes of materials and/or supplies up to 25 pounds. Travel is not required.
