Special Education Teacher
The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team for an anticipated vacancy at the middle school level. The ideal candidate will be student-centered, committed to inclusive education, and experienced in co-teaching and differentiated instruction.

Tentative Assignment: Haviland Middle School
Key Responsibilities:
● Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with
Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and NYSED regulations.
● Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and
co-teaching models.
● Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans as outlined in
students’ IEPs.
● Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
● Communicate regularly with families, related service providers, and other members of
the CSE team.
● Maintain accurate and timely documentation including IEP development, progress
reports, and classroom records.
● Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-based initiatives.
● Promote a positive and respectful learning environment that supports the social emotional and academic development of all students.
Qualifications:
Required:
● Valid New York State Certification in Special Education (All Grades, SE 5-9 extension, K-12 SE), or Students with Disabilities Certification
● Knowledge of and experience with IEP development and implementation.
● Experience in inclusive classrooms, co-teaching, and differentiated instruction.
Preferred:
● Experience working with diverse learners in a secondary school setting.
● Familiarity with restorative practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
● AVID experience is a plus
