This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as a Park Ranger at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, a Class A visitor center attached to the Duluth Area Office, Detroit District, Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.

Duties
Gathers factual data used to justify and support improvements to the project's programs and facilities.
Performs a variety of interpretive and educational programming to a wide range of groups including students and senior groups.
Ensures the safety of the visiting public, Corps personnel and contractors at the project.
Enforces visitor center policies, rules and regulations by issuing verbal warnings when visitor violations are encountered.
Assists in keeping some historical records, files and items.
Facilitates preventive maintenance for exhibits, audiovisual equipment, and overall project appearance.
Assists the director and other staff in preparing a variety of management reports such as visitation reports, incident or mishap reports, and project damage reports.

Successfully completed a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours of related course work in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.
