Childcare Associate Job Description
Childcare associates assist teachers by supervising and engaging children, maintaining a safe and clean environment. Key duties include organizing educational and recreational activities, ensuring child safety, managing daily routines, communicating with parents, and supporting children's development. Qualifications typically include a high school diploma, CPR and First Aid certification, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor children during play, learning activities, and daily routines to ensure their well-being.
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans, organizing and leading engaging indoor and outdoor activities, and providing opportunities for exploration and learning.
- Help keep the facility organized, gardening, assembling items and safe by disinfecting surfaces and toys, and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
Communication:
Interact with parents to provide updates on their child's daily activities and behavior and communicate concerns to teachers or supervisors.
Safety and Health:
Adhere to safety and security procedures, report unsafe conditions, and participate in emergency drills and training.
Child Development Support:
- Aid in fostering children's development through positive interactions and by providing individualized attention when needed.
- A genuine passion for working with children and the ability to show compassion and sensitivity.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- The ability to adjust to dynamic situations and shift directions in work as needed.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other staff members.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.
