School Psychologist
Sarasota County Schools is in need of a School Psychologist to assist children, parents and teachers in promoting learning and healthy emotional adjustments which lead to academic success for students.
School Psychologist positions offer a competitive starting salary and excellent benefits!
Salary Range: $65,000-$76,000
*Need-based supplements include:
- $1,000 - ESE Certification (lump sum paid at the end of the school year, total amount will vary based on individual eligibility)
- $3,000 - Title 1 supplement (if serving a Title 1 school)
- $4,500 - Maximum experience credit (0.5% for each verified year of experience, up to 15 years or 7.5%)
- $7,500 - Specialist Supplement
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Specialist Level Degree in School Psychology. Graduate degree consistent with Florida Rule 6A-4.0311
- Certificate or Licensure as a School Psychologist
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be familiar with psychological testing and evaluation of students.
- Strong collaboration and consultation skills with all stakeholders.
- Understanding of curriculum and learning needs of students.
- Understanding of behavioral intervention strategies.
- Organization and time management skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in needs assessment activities, and planning and development of intervention programs and services to students
- Participate in Child find, eligibility and Individual Education Plan (IEP) teams to help meet the needs of identified students.
- Establish short- and long-range plans designed to support the District Exceptional Student Education (ESE) student education plan.
- Select, develop or modify psychological assessment materials which identify learning needs and strategies of culturally diverse students.
- Plan and prepare effective intervention strategies for parents and teachers.
- Assist in evaluation of program materials and recommend changes which facilitate student growth.
- Maintain and prepare essential records.
- Implement and coordinate school and District-wide psychological services.
- Use appropriate intervention and integration services and strategies.
- Assist in early identification of students’ school-related problems.
- Provide direct observation and/or crisis intervention as necessary and/or requested.
- Consult with parents, teachers and students about ways to facilitate change in behavior and learning.
