Behavioral Health Technician (Youth Residential)

Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician (Youth Residential) 
Location: Nixa, Missouri 
Employment Type: Full-time, Part-time, or PRN 
 

Job Summary: 

As a Behavioral Health Technician in our Youth Residential program, you'll provide direct care and supervision to youth residents ages 13-17 with persistent mental illnesses, facilitate therapeutic activities, and work with a team to support the residents' treatment goals and daily program. Our ideal candidate is passionate about working with at-risk youth, has experience with direct care for youth preferred, and strong communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Participate as an active member of the treatment team by facilitating interactions that will ensure the home is a safe haven for therapeutic transformation 
  • Continuously assess and positively support the young person's perception of safety, feelings of significance, feelings of being respected and related to others, as well as providing direct and indirect supervision of all assigned young people in the home. 
  • Provide direct care and supervision to youth residents ages 8-17 with persistent mental illnesses. 
  • Provide youth residents with therapeutic activities while ensuring their safety. 
  • Work with a team of residents on their daily program, specific interventions and adjustments to the milieu, including homework, chores, recreation, social skills, daily living skills, individualized weekly and treatment plan goals. 
  • Facilitate house meetings with assigned team, sharing feedback and communicating positive expectations. 
  • Facilitate one specialized group (social skills, relaxation, recreation, craft, life skill, etc.) each week, as requested. 
  • Dispense medications to residents (per physician's orders) as requested and training permits. 
  • Monitor and chart resident activity and treatment progress daily (i.e., shift notes, logs, incident reports, behavior tracking, treatment plans, etc.) 

 

 

Education and/or Experience Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older 

 

 

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills 
  • Passion for working with at-risk youth 
  • Ability to work in a team environment 
  • Flexibility and adaptability 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • ADA Consideration - Sedentary work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
