Job Summary
Coordinate, administer and direct the staff and activities for various Recreation Programs, Community Events, Field Trips and other programming in St. Louis Park.
This position requires a flexible and varied work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support programs and events.
Position is temporary, from approximately September - December 2025 and schedule is full-time (40 hours/week) working consistently on Tuesdays - Saturdays.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide planning, promotion/marketing and coordination of recreations programs/rentals that include but are not limited to: family movie nights, youth sports programs/leagues, adult leagues, ROCtoberfest, Westwood Hills Nature Center Halloween Party, Howl-O-Ween, and U.G.L.Y. sweater dash.
- Recommend the purchase of equipment and supplies needed to carry out the above programs.
- Interview and recommend hiring of staff as necessary. Provide direction and evaluation of said staff.
- Schedule events, reserve facilities, and work with staff to ensure effective event coordination from setup to clean-up, post-event evaluation and follow up.
- Serve as on-site staff member during department-hosted public and private events.
- Work directly with client and interact with event guests to ensure smooth event execution through excellent customer service.
- Monitor varied recreation administrative duties such as registration, fee collection, etc. Verify that fees are collected properly, and forms are completed properly and turned in promptly. Provide information to the public on the programs. Monitor documentation of program activities through participation review and photography.
- Ability to fill in for recreational leaders; providing supervision and discipline for children in recreation program to ensure their safety.
- Provide Recreation Supervisors with information on the program on a timely basis. Prepare reports of expenditures, revenues, participants, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Internship/practicum required for completing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Parks and Recreation or related field.
- Experience with programs, events and recreational facilities.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing and managing files and records.

- Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city's strategic objectives for advancing racial equity.
- Ability and experience working with and relating to people of all ages.
- Prior experience working in summer recreational programs.
