The City of Salisbury’s Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated student currently enrolled in a college, university, or technical institute with an interest in local government, public service, recreation, athletics, programming, or community development.  This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic field of Parks and Recreation. Interns will support a variety of functions, including recreation centers, community programs, athletic leagues, and park operations.

 

Interns will apply classroom learning to real-world projects while developing key professional skills, including:

  • Communication and customer service
  • Time management and organization
  • Teamwork and flexibility
  • Program coordination and project management
  • Creativity and problem-solving

 

By the end of this internship, participants will have a stronger foundation for careers in program management, project coordination, or public service—along with a portfolio of marketable, real-world experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Coursework relating to recreation, athletic, community engagement, public service or related fields
  • Comfort using Microsoft Teams and Office Suite
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfortable Presenting at all levels
  • Must have a valid NC Driver’s License 

 

Salary: $15.00 per hour

Hours: Varies
