Nationally ranked law firm specializing in investor securities class actions and complex shareholder litigation seeks a full-time paralegal in our Jenkintown, PA office. The ideal candidate will possess some paralegal skills.

 

Duties include, analysis of stock trading, cite checking and proof-reading legal briefs, electronic court filings, drafting legal documents, etc. There are also some general office duties such as speaking to clients on the phone, calling the courts for information and related matters.

 

The candidate should expect a varied pace depending on the proximity of filing deadlines and the needs of the attorneys, as well as a varying degree of autonomy. Training in legal research and electronic court systems will be provided.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Organizing and maintaining case files on a daily basis.
  • Preparing and filing legal documents with the courts.
  • Answering the telephone and responding to client inquiries, and assisting with office administrative tasks as needed.
  • Preparing, producing, and organizing discovery including: (i) contacting process servers, (ii) coding documents, and (iii) redacting sensitive material.
  • Uploading documents received through discovery to online databases.
  • Conducting legal research using Westlaw on substantive legal issues.
  • Using Excel to prepare simple financial analyses of stock trading.
  • Proofreading and editing legal briefs and documents.
  • Creating tables of contents and tables of authorities for legal briefs.
  • Drafting motions and legal briefs on simple issues.

 

Required abilities/qualifications:

  • Highly organized - maintain litigation files perfectly.
  • Excellent writer and editor.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of business software, esp. Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent online research skills.
  • Self-starter who is proactive and conscientious.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Work experience.
