Wildland Fire Dispatcher, Career Seasonal

Career Seasonal Wildland Fire Dispatcher 2 (WFD2)
Full-time, Career Seasonal, Represented position
Anticipated Seasonal employment is July - December 2025
Location: Pacific Cascade Region- Castle Rock, WA
Salary: $3,477.00 - $4,632.00 Monthly
 

Responsibilities:
This position activates emergency responses when life, property, or natural resources are threatened due to wildfire or other emergencies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Receive and coordinate communications from the public, agency staff, and county 911 dispatch centers via telephone and radio;
  • Record, evaluate, and disseminate reports of wildland fire, smoke complaints, accidents/incidents, and all-risk incidents on DNR-protected lands;
  • Appropriately manage agency resource availability and logistics to support incident response and preparedness.
  • Coordinate local response to incidents, and initiate appropriate response of personnel and apparatus per agency plans, guidelines, and protocols;
  • Communicate with aviation assets by providing information to air resources, including: distance and bearing to an incident, latitude and longitude to an incident, air-air and air-ground frequencies, ground contact and flight hazards, etc..
  • Track aviation assets within the PC Region while in transit and during incident response;
  • Additional clerical duties include tracking resource availability, resource or incident locations, weather forecasting, fire reporting, and incident orders.

Required Qualifications: 
 

  • Experience with computer programs such as the Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience involving public contact or communication, such as radio communications, receptionist, switchboard operator, or clerical office work, which includes interacting with the public.
