What I liked

I could not speak more highly of my summer at Wayfair. I had an amazing manager and mentor. My coworkers were people that I admired first as human beings, then for their technical expertise. My project was high impact and, several months later, I still hear of my manager pointing people to my tool.

What I liked

I loved this internship! Wayfair gives you a lot of freedom, works with your best skills and makes it fun. There are a lot of intern events. I had a great relationship with my manager and my team, which made the experience even better!

What I wish was different

Sometimes HR did not communicate information well about the processes

Curiosity is everything. This company wants to see that you are interested in learning, developing, and becoming better at your work every day. It changes constantly, so if you are someone who likes a lot of consistency in your job, this company will not be a good match for you!

What I liked

The company culture is fantastic. The company is very collaborative. I was always working with different teams, learning about different departments. Every day is different and there is always more to learn. The internship challenged me and pushed me out of my comfort zone.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship was longer than 10 weeks. I also wish that the company had housing assistance for students outside of Boston.

Advice

Don't be afraid or intimidated. Don't worry if you feel you are not in the right place. There are a lot of people in the company and many opportunities to learn about other teams. This is actually highly encouraged. Be yourself and be enthusiastic. It is a great experience.

What I liked

Wayfair was a really great company to work for - Even though Wayfair went public in 2014, it still feels like a startup and the culture is awesome. The internship program is about 150-200 interns, so you make really great connections and there are a lot of fun intern events. The work was challenging, and you really feel like part of the team, There are also a lot of opportunities for job offers!

Connections are crucial at Wayfair - So if you do not have any , try to make some!

-Fast-growing company -Laid-back culture and very flat structure -A lot of independence in the project I conducted -Gained data analysis and SQL skills

What I wish was different

-Wish there were more employee bonding events to get to know the other Marketing interns better

-Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you think they're stupid, because you are expected to absorb a lot of information in just a week or two and you have to make sure you understand everything correctly

Collaborative environment, open office plan, and easy access to senior leadership. Easily able to pivot to other parts of the company if those are more interesting (lots of internal hiring) Plus, free snacks!

What I wish was different

Wanted a more challenging/technical experience.

Advice

Network!! Connect with people across the company so you have a better understanding of how each org works and the skills it requires. If you find something more interesting, talk to your recruiter! They are very open to moving around the talent that they invest in.

The company is growing rapidly so it's very easy to get confused with the big picture and not connect with your team very well.

What I liked

Loved having a collaborative and cross functional environment where I could meet and work with a lot of people in the company. I had hands on experience spearheading initiatives and taking on projects and I loved having the opportunity to have that ownership.

What I wish was different

Being able to meet more interns and to have more intern events

Advice

Put yourself out there, always ask your supervisor for more when you're done with a project (it'll improve your chances of getting a return offer), ask questions all the time, and take advantage of all the resources the company offers you.
