Trust and Estate Administration Attorney Clerkship
Barrett McNagny LLP, one of the oldest and largest law firms in northeast Indiana, is seeking a law school student interested in a future associate position as a Trust and Estate Administration Attorney. The ideal candidate will have an interest in the areas of federal estate, gift, Generation-Skipping, and fiduciary income tax. The clerk will have direct client interaction, assisting our attorneys with estate and trust administration matters. The clerk will obtain experience in a variety of estate and trust administration matters, likely to include projects involving real estate, entity ownership interests, non-profit entities, and tax considerations.
Daily Responsibilities include:
- Drafting court pleadings, proposed Orders, and Notices.
- Sending and receiving correspondence to/from clients.
- Meeting with clients.
- E-Filing pleadings and motions electronically with the Court.
- Reviewing real estate records, financial records, and income tax returns regarding a decedent’s assets.
- Preparing accountings and funding calculations.
- Reviewing and considering federal estate, gift, Generation-Skipping, and fiduciary income tax matters.
- Preparing gift and estate tax returns, as may be applicable.
